You might have noticed that bfish was down from around 9pm last night until lunchtime today. Jonny’s post about GCal/Thunderbird made it onto the digg.com frontpage – it’s up to over 500 diggs now as well – nice one Jonny!

Here’s a screenshot in case you don’t believe us. As you can see from the clock in the image, this was just after 9pm, when the post first made it to the front page.

As is traditional under these circumstances (massive traffic spike) my server decided to fall over. I won’t bore you with the details of what exactly happened (you can find that here). The important thing is that it’s back up now (with no data loss or anything else nasty).

I’ve done some tweaking to the Apache/MySQL configuration which should hopefully allow the server to cope a bit better with this kind of thing in future. Most notably, I’ve upgraded to Wordpress 2.1.3 and installed the WP-Cache 2.1 plugin – which makes WP a lot less database heavy.

So, woo yeah for getting dugg!
