Just a quick one, for those of you looking to get a local, offline backup of your IMAP mail accounts (because colossal disk failure is usually just around the corner…).

A bit of research turned up the rather excellent freeware utility IMAPSize which has binaries for Windows. You can configure this app to perform an incremental backup from your IMAP server and store the message as .eml files on your local disk. This, inturn can be scheduled to happen weekly by Windows Task Manager.
