  1. “Either everything’s okay to make fun of, or nothing is.” South Park is a massive piss take, and this episode was the biggest piss take of them all.

Surely ‘MediaWatch’ has more important things to be doing. Oh wait, that’s MediaWatch-UK the BBC are talking about, the lazy, grumpy housewives’ organisation of Daily Mail readers, not their US namesakes who are at least partly respectable. See satires of MediaWatch-UK here and here. The same sorts of people who attacked Steve Irwin when he was alive.

“You never cared about the Muslim religion. Or the safety of people in America. You just want ‘Family Guy’ off the air!”

Obviously it wouldn’t be too cool if his family happened to be watching the episode, but making a fuss about it can only make it worse. In fact it serves to encourage Matt and Trey to do things like this more often; they obviously believe any publicity is good publicity.

I personally wasn’t offended, nor, I think, would Steve have been. It was clearly designed to offend the outspoken-outraged/weak-minded/knee-jerk-reactionary crowd that constitute MediaWatch-UK and people who don’t really understand what South Park is. And they’re playing right into Matt and Trey’s hands.

Also, the Crocodile Hunter already died in the episode ‘Prehistoric Ice Man,’ which was apparently rebroadcast especially, 2 days after his real death (according to an uncitated statement in Wikipedia).
